BALI : Taman Air Spa

I think it has been the fifth time that i visited Bali this year. Apparently Bali is very popular destination for every events, be it for international events to private ones, all the more for wedding celebrations. I know having a private party in Bali over the oceans or up on a cliff can be very beautiful, especially when the sun goes down and give pretty hues all over the skyline.

But apparently having a destination wedding or business trip (as for me) is pretty tiring.

The traffic that we have to go through, the waiting time at the airport, the flight itself, and the drive to our hotel can take a lot of energy. Even though what we do is only sitting quietly and probably just playing around with our gadget or reading some books.

Nowadays, i’ve been looking for a spa anytime anywhere. Gosh.. Not sure if it’s the age issue or having a spa is always a good idea when you’re kinda tired. Haha.. not those only massage place, but those with nice scents, good scrub and flower bath. *pampering day mode on.

Finally, after hosting a pretty wedding at Conrad, Nusa Dua, I decided to have my me time in this pretty space called Taman Air Spa. Was just googling around, and found this gem in Sunset area.

Taman Air spa has a lovely interior design for a spa place. A space that’s designed rightly for resting and relaxing. The nice smell all over the place, friendly staffs, beautiful view, proper therapists and one more important thing, they have a very clean space! All of the above made my spa experience whole in Taman Air Spa.

Not only that, after went to a few spa places jn Bali, i think Taman Air Spa has a good price too! I spent Rp 375.000 for 2 hours spa treatment that includes massage, body scrub, and flower bath. Oh, btw i think they have a different price between Indonesian / KITAS holder and foreigners. Don’t forget to check with them first.

And oh, this is not an endorsement. Purely good place that i just want to share.

BALI : IBAB BALI

Who loves ‘Babi Sambal Matah’ ?? Goshh! As for me, i love it so much! The deep fried pork with the sambal matah makes a good marriage of something that you called ‘Heaven’!

Well, i might be a little bit hyperbolic here, but i do love sambal matah with everything that is deep fried. haha. Anyway, i bet a lot of you already know that one famous warung that sells babi sambal matah in Bali. I always go there to satisfy my sambal matah craving whenever im in Bali. But lately, the pork is getting harder to chew, and getting longer to wait. But i am still willing to wait and eat the spicy sambal matah. guess i’m just a slave for nice sambal. haha.

When i was in Bali last month for my gig, one nice lady said that we have to try IBAB Bali. They have one decent place and nice babi sambal matah too! Since i’m a sucker for sambal matah, me and my hosts from Tehila House Canggu, straight forward went to IBAB Bali right after church service.

And Tadaaa!! Indeed IBAB Bali is one decent place to have your lunch / dinner, even-though it’s a little bit warm since no air-con inside. Oh well, guess a lot of eating place in Bali doesnt have any air-con. haha. Their colourful old windows decoration reminds me of potato head too. But i love their sort of open space concept, high ceiling and the industrial feeling.

Now, let’s go to their menu! We ordered Babi Sambal Matah and Roasted Pork with rice! We love their fried pork with its sambal matah. Love the pork that is very tender and not dried, no porky smell, and love their sambal matah, eventho it’s not that spicy for me.

The roasted pork is nice as well, very tender and has nice portion for one, accompanied with pork satay and pork crakers. But as for me, i’ll still opt for Babi Sambal Matah! >.<

Bali : Pork Star Restaurant

Bali always have something new to offer. Sometimes too many new stuffs coming out together that made you confuse on which one to try first. Luckily i have some friends who are staying in this lovely island now, that makes it easier to find good new places to eat and hangout.

When i reached Bali, it was almost 12 o clock in the afternoon. And since me and my friends haven’t had our breakfast yet, We were starving like crazy. So I contacted a good ‘cici’ of mine to recommend what’s good for lunch for 6 hungry people. And she told us to go for Pork Star Restaurant in Seminyak area.

Pork Star is relatively not new though, Since it’s been around there for about 2 years. To be honest, this place is Quite easy to miss out, cause they have a small entrance. So my advise is, drive slowly when you are close by.

We started our meal by their most favorite appetizers (that’s what they say), and that’s what my good friend’s recommended too. So, without any hesitation, we ordered 2 plates of this goodness. *droll

Pork Dynamite (Rp 38,000 / SGD 3,8)

Mozarella cheese wrapped in pork bacon! These 2 crazy goodness in one single bite be like.. ahhhh! Hahaha.. Moreover, they topped it with another melted cheese. For a cheese lover like, these taste like heaven. Haha. But, do enjoy it while it’s still warm.  Else, the cheese will be kinda chewy, and the bacon will be cold and hard. 😦

 

Pork Tongue Sambal Hijau. (Rp 42,000 / SGD 4,2 )

I know this sounds a little bit weird, since i’m sure many of us are more familiar with beef tongue. Well, it tastes like a beef tongue for me, only a bit more firm and thicker. They claimed that they boiled their pork tongue for 6 hours, so it’s kinda tender and easy to eat.  I love the sambal hijau or green chili, not that spicy (at least for me) and it goes right with the boiled pork. Maybe my suggestion will be, to just order a plain steamed rice, rather than the butter rice. The butter rice is not bad, but it is just overwhelming for me to mix strong flavor with another strong taste.

Pork Short Ribs with Hongkong Style Sauce (Rp 58,000 / SGD 5,8)

Juicy and Tender meat, something that is very safe to order if you don’t really like Indonesian spices. I felt the sauce is too sweet for a pork ribs, but for you who love sweet food, it can be your favorite meal over there! This meal is accompanied with french fries too, which i think it can help you to neutralize the sweet hongkong style sauce.

Nasi Campur Pork Star (Rp 48,000 / SGD 4,8)

This is not your typical Bali Nasi Campur, where you have suckling pig set and pork satay. This Nasi campur consist of 4 pork goodness, which is Babi Sambal Matah, Babi Sambal Hijau, Babi Rica-rica and Dendeng that comes with steamed rice. All are good, they cooked the pork well, but my favorite is the Dendeng and sambal hijau. The Dendeng or dried pork is very savoury and the sambal hijau is just so good. Guess i just love green chili. haha.

Truffle Mushroom Pasta (Rp 55,000 / SGD 5,5)

I have to say they have the most random menu. From local pork delicacies to pork ribs, and now pasta. haha. Since there’s a friend of ours who doesn’t eat pork, so she ordered this mushroom pasta with creamy truffle mushroom choice. I thought the pasta will be a bit off. But truth to be told, this pasta is so good! The pasta is al-dente, and the mushroom truffle sauce is so good! this one taste just right, where some of creamy sauce makes you sick if you eat too much.

Overall, we had a good eating experience here! Good food with friendly price.

Bali Must Stay : CARA CARA INN

Does’t matter how many times that you have visited Bali, this island seems always have something new to offer. Like OMNIA – the new day club , Parachute – the latest cafe in canggu, Wasabi – the new pork skewer stall in town, and Cara-Cara INN – the cutest and instagramable hotel ever in Bali!

I’m pretty sure that you have seen this photogenic corner!

Well, i dont know about you, but when i first saw this corner on someone’s instagram, it makes me curious how does the entire place look like. Like you are in some hairspray movie.. haha. and so, since i got the opportunity to stay here during my last trip. im gonna show you every cute corner that they have! *grin in excitement! and Ohh.. Btw, you can really use that washing machine!

Let’s start with their lobby + check in desk. Unlike hotels, where you can feel the full blast air-con when you enter their place, Cara-cara inn has an open concept lobby. I was expecting at least a standing air-con, but there’s none. haha. *a city girl problem. But I have to admit that they have a good air-circulation that makes it not humid and hot, despite the scorching sun outside.

I love the front-desk, it feels like you’re buying a movie ticket back in 70s, isnt it? and after you checked-in, They will pass you a unique roomkey that looks like a watch in green popping colour, which you can wear it anywhere without thinking you might have misplaced it. super unique! too bad i forgot to take its picture.

after we check-in, we went right in to our room! and we present you, ‘The Blockbuster; room!

This is an ideal room for two or three people with a queen bed and single loft, with the option for a 4th person. I have to say Cara-Cara inn loves bold colour block, that makes a fun vibrant ambiance yet comfortable to stay at the same time.  I love how the design the room too! The summer vibe colours, and i think it’s very creative to make a bunk-bed up there and put the bean-bag as the living room. Overall, i just love the layout of this room. Spacious yet compact at the same time.

As you can see from the room, Cara Cara wants to utilize the best of it’s space. So, they use their lobby as their breakfast lounge as well. And i have to compliment that they have a systematic ways to accommodate all the hungry guests. you’ll be given a coupon, and you have to decide during the check in time between the 4 options that they offer. During the breakfast, you just need to pass that coupon to the waiter, and you’ll be given a Q number. When your’s is up, you just have to take it from the counter, and enjoy it where ever you want, just dont forget to put the tray back to the allocated place.

Cara-Cara has a lot of cute hang-out space, if you love to take pictures and chill at the same time, this might be a perfect place for you. Well, overall the place is not that spacious like other fancy hotels. You may have to take turns if you want to chill on the hammock, seat on the big cool sofas by the pool. But if you want to find something different and fun, you can consider this place as an option.

Paragliding Over A Spectacular View in Bali (VLOG)

‘Wooww.. wooww.. and wooww!’ I think i screamed that word for more than a dozen time during my 15 mins of paragliding session. Not to mention the loudest ‘WOOOOWW’ when i first took off from the high cliff. Haha. It’s just so hilarious when i played back the video.

Paragliding in Bali was an impromptu decision. I thought this round of trip to Bali will be full of work and relax, nothing on raising adrenaline kind of activities. But i was wrong, i worked for a very adventurous couple who asked me for paragliding on the next day. I was shocked myself. Asking the couple a few times if they are sure to do that kind of exhausting activity right after their wedding day. and they were like, ‘Yeap! Why not?’

Well, apparently the couple have some international guests whom they want to entertain. So, since they are already in Bali, the couple wants them to experience something that they country may not have. But in the end,  the couple decided to go for paragliding on the day after their party. I was like, ‘That’s more like it.. you both need some rest after 1 whole hectic day. Haha’

And finally the day has come! It’s Paragliding time! It’s located at Uluwatu, they name their basecamp as Nyang Nyang Paragliding. So, we are paragliding over a spectacular view of Nyang Nyang Beach, one of the most difficult private beach to reach. Why so? Because you need to hike down about 20-30 mins from the basecamp just to reach the beach. But the beach is indeed pretty, and quite. Perfect place to relax, read some book or do some yoga, OR propose someone there! i think that would be memorable. hahaha.

Anyway, it has been a while for me doing such raising-adrenaline-kind-of-thing. Guess my last heart-pumping activity was rappelling down Jomblang Cave in Jogjakarta, Indonesia back in February 2017. and i am so glad that i end 2017 with this super memorable experience.

Paragliding in Bali might not be your number one destination in this island of God. Since most of us may prefer cafe hopping, or sunbathing, or rave party! Yeap, tried Saga 2017 at GWK last month. My very first rave party since i dont know how long. haha. But apparently i miss doing this kind of adventurous thing, and i think you should try it too sometimes.

By the way, This Nyang Nyang Paragliding is super safe. They always check when is the perfect time to fly, since paragliding depends much on the wind. All pilots are highly experienced and International Licensed, all gears are legit, and they have the the great team-work to make us fly and land safely. Plus, the ammount that we paid is already come with IDR 250 million of personal insurance coverage as well.

They have different price though between Indonesian and Foreigners. The last time that we went, they charged Rp 900,000 (SGD 90) for Indonesian and Rp 1,500,000 (SGD 150) for foreigners. *But since the foreigners were with the indonesians, we tried to bargain for them, and finally they gave us some discounts for them to fly. Yeayy.. hehe.

Anyway, below is my Paragliding VLOG, hope it gets you the feeling of flying as well. hehe.. Btw, the first take off was super scary yet exciting, but after that the beauty of Nyang Nyang beach paid it all. Enjoy! ❤

Giant Swing in Ubud, Bali

Happy new year, everyone! Hope your new year has been aca-awesome this far! #pitchperfectfever haha

It was still fresh in my mind how i started my first day in 2017. Woke up late after new year’s eve celebration, and decided to went out for early dinner. That time my brother just bought a new car and asked me to drive cause he was still very sleepy. I told him that im not good at parking. And he was like, ‘you can’. Anddd, i ended up my first day of 2017 by stratching my bro’s car so badly.. grazing it against the rough wall. #goshhh.. luckily it was still under insurance.. since then, my bro and my dad never asked me again to park their car in that ‘letter L’ position in my house. Hahaha.

So, It has been 2 days of 2018 and ive spent it smoothly.. pray that the rest of 2018 will be as smooth and even smoother! *Amen!

Anywayy, i spent most of my December in Bali, one of the most beautiful island in Indonesia. I had some MC gigs to do, and some collaboration to work on. And it felt so good, when you can do things that you love and get the chance to travel too!

And on this trip, i got to try the Giant Swing in Ubud! Well, actually we found this place by accident. Haha

We initially wanted to visit Pulina, the coffee plantation in Ubud area. But since it was raining that time of day, and we need to pay Rp 100,000 (SGD 10) for the entrance fee. So, we decided to give it a pass and look a for a cafe to hangout instead.

When we were driving around, my friends in the first car just randomly stop at one little place. I was like, are you sure we gonna stop here? But i was very wrong.. This cafe might look little and ordinary from the outside, but it offers a very cozy ambiance and beautiful view for the guests! And what’s more amazing is they have a giant swing! We were super excited when we saw that! I guess we are just a bunch of kids that trapped in adults body. Hahaha.

Not long after we reached the cafe, the rain slowly stopped. Super yeayyy moment! cause we finally can play the giant swing! Wohhoo!! SO, We asked the waiter on how to ride the swing? Do we have to pay for it as well?

They said only adult can play the giant swing, and no particular rules to follow. the only thing that they asked us is, NOT to release your hand off the ropes. And, as for the fee, the cafe should have charged us Rp 75,000 ( SGD 7,5) for each ride. But the kind-hearted owner gave free rides for all of us as long as we ordered something to drink, which only cost Rp 30,000 – 40,000 per drink. This cafe is super recommended. Just opened for 2 months only, and they have nice drinks and snacks with affordable price.

Anddd, my experience playing with the giant swing is super awesome!! The feeling was like you’re riding some rides in universal studio. Super thrilling yet exciting. And the very first swing was the best feeling ever! It feels so tingling in your stomach and your heart beats so quickly more than ever.. Haha.. But the view up there is so worth it, so beautiful until you dont want to go down. so pretty that you want to go even higher and higher. haha.. I Really love this experience, and want to go for more giant swing now!

Hello December! Indeed, time goes by too fast! I still remember vividly how my last December like, having Christmas dinner with my all my loved ones back in Singapore and Jakarta. and this year, im spending most of my December in the island of God, Bali, Indonesia.

Someway somehow, Bali always excites me. It’s the only place that i would not mind to go back again and again, at least for now. Haha. So, Normally i will share about a must go place or must eat food in Bali, but for now, im gonna share with you one villa that captured my heart.

Tehila House 

A villa / guest house located in the heart of Canggu has really captured my heart. Definitely not a fancy hotel with all the 5* service, but i love the serene ambiance homey kind of feeling that they offer. Tehila house has 10 different rooms that has been carefully thought and uniquely designed. The owner goal is to get her guests feels inspired when they are staying in Tehila house.

Room 2

During my 3 days stay in Tehila, i got upgraded from the owner to room number 2. A more spacious room for me and my friend who just had her pre-wedding shots in Bali. I personally love this big rooms. i know it’s kinda too big for the two of us. But it feels super comfortable since we can get the queen bed all to ourselves. Love the hanger with the local-made ‘sarong’ as their background, the self-made white bed frame, all the little details that the owner put, the morning rays of lights , the fish pond view and the ‘back-to-nature’ bathroom design that makes your bathing experience a little bit different.

Room 5

During this trip, I also travel with my high-school friend, Aquinaldo Adrian whom nowadays people known him as GD Indonesia. Haha. He got room number 5, which i have to admit that it is one of the nicest room that Tehila has. It has a very picturesque corner that will make you feels like you’re staying in Santorini. Haha. Okay, i might be too much on this. But i just love that blue-white corner to the bits, and love the green stone bed-frame. Guess nowadays, it’s hard for you to find a nice big stone as your bed-frame. Haha

Aside from the nice bed-rooms for us to sleep in, they have this few comfortable public space to hang-out with the other travellers. Like the Gazebo for example, i love how they built it in the middle of the beautiful fish pond. It is super relaxing, and the breeze can literally put you to sleep in that Gazebo.

Other than the Gazebo, the kitchen or the bar could be the perfect place for you to work in. When i spent my days in Tehila, i always woke up in the morning to open up my emails and do some works before i left. Literally the kind of space that i want if i can work remotely.

They also have some sofa to chill in their living room if you want some cooler air. But i prefer to stay in the bar tho. Haha.

And the last but not least, THE POOL! It may looks small from a far, but if you really swim in it. it can be pretty tiring too. *Duhhh. HAHAHA. Anyway they are very thoughtful to put the floaties, so i can take pretty picture with it. Yeayy.. hehe.. Owh, it can be very hot at daytime yet a perfect spot for you who wants to sunbath.

Overall, my stay in Tehila was perfect! Love the owner, Anita very much! Such a lovely person with big personalities! She is very helpful during my stay, shown us good and nice cafe  (which i just knew that there’s a lot of well known cafe around that area. Haha. I even met Irfan Bachdim, Indonesian footballer in one of the cafe. Indeed a strategic place to stay in. Haha) , give us some insights on what to do in Bali as well, and can be a great listener to all your Bali stories. Haha. And last but not least, love the companion of their little friends over there. Puma and Boyboy who fill my stay in Tehila with more laughter. Hope you see you guys again! ❤

Bali : Milu by Nook

Lush green, sun rays, light breeze, a perfect place to rejuvenate your mind and put your mind to ease. The ever-expanding Nook has chose one good place to open up their new sister Restaurant, Milu, on Jalan Pantai Berawa.

Was staying over at my friend’s villa at Canggu, and she asked us for brunch at this lovely place. and, The place does not disappoint at all. Milu by Nook has their famous ‘Nasi Campur’ that you have to try as well. Their Nasi Campur comes in full set, but if you want, you can choose your favorite dishes on your plate too, and they charge you accordingly.

i wasnt in a mood to eat a lot, so i ordered a hearty bowl of Yoghurt and fruits. But the yoghurt wasnt cold enough for me, and tasted a bit blehh. =( But their Nasi Campur and Nasi Goreng is not bad at all. worth the try!

As for me, I love their modern-style interior yet rustic feeling. love the thatch (hay roof) and all the wooden furnitures. Made me want to read some books and sip ice chocolate while looking out to the padi field.

Luxury Getaway : Sheraton Bali Kuta Resort (VLOG)

Ive been staying in so many hotels, but never before i got an excellent service like this.

Thanks to Atlas Pearl x Maria Rahajeng who gave out this giveaway!

I still remember how happy i was, when the Associate Director of Marketing Communications of Sheraton Bali called me for the winner confirmation.

The call was on end of February 2017 (if im not mistaken), and they were very  kind to let me choose my own date of arrival. Which just happened 4 months after that. During that 4 months, Sheraton team occasionally will ask me if the date is really fixed and asked if ive done my packing to go to Bali around 1 week before i flew. Feels so legit. Haha.

Finally the day has come, they flew me and my brother with Garuda Indonesia, and picked us up with super comfortable car, lovely driver, and great in-car service (if you have such a word) hahaha..

After we reached, we are greeted with a warm smile by two Balinese girls as the security opened up our car. Then, The Balinese girls put flowers behind our right ears, while the bellboy helped us with our luggages, and then up we go to the check -in counter.

Once we were at the check in counter, another super friendly lady greeted us and offered us their welcome drink. Not long after that the whole team came to see me.

The Associate Director of MarComm (Ms. Bee) and Team, with their GM (Mr. Dario) came to greet us and congratulate me. And finally they escorted me to our lovely suite room that overlooking Kuta Beach!

I love their Bathroom sooo veryy much! trully #bathroomgoal for me! haha

After the lovely room, we got a super breakfast with champagne as our drink for the next 3 days. Goshh, this is a lot! *literally* haha

We are served :

one lot of cheese and ham platters, one plate of croissants and other breads, that comes with madacamia butter, normal butter and so many kind of jams, like marmalade, honey, chocolate and peanut butter.

vast selection of juices, tea and coffee, yoghurt with muesli and dried fruits (my fave),

exotic selection of eggs, like truffle, foie gras, caviar and other things (that i cant remember already. haha.. must check out my VLOG), and foie gras with duck terrine,

and of coursee.. chilled sweet champagne as one of our drink..

Goshh.. me and my brother love everything here, but definitely cant finished theseee lots! Guess it’s a portion for 4. haha.. Oh well, maybe this is a portion of 2 for some people.

Took that shoots on our first day of breakfast (from Bene – Italian Kitchen), and asked the crew to bring in to our hotel room for the second and third day, just because we are too lazy to walk down to the restaurant. haha.. *Yeahh, the distance was quite a walk from our room to the restaurant. haha*

and we did not regret itt.. causee we also got thiss view from our room!

More laid back kind of breakfast, whereby we dont need to be well-presented and watched some TV programs with our PJs. haha.. AHHH.. miss this kind of breakfast, even though im not a ‘breakfast person’. haha..

BALI : ATLAS PEARLS (VLOG)

HELLOOO again everyone!

I just came back from Bali. Super blessed to have a 4 days 3 nights sponsored trip by ATLAS PEARLS and SHERATON KUTA BALI RESORT.

Well, actually this is a giveaway gift that i got from Maria Rahajeng’s (Miss Indonesia 2014 and Brand Ambassador of Atlas Pearls). I still remember that i saw Maria Rahajeng’s instastory. At that time, she mentioned that this is the last day to sign up for the giveaway. I was like, ‘What Giveaway?’. Haha.

Cut the story short. I read her post on the giveaway and signed myself up. And since im quite a ‘Dory’ sometimes. I soon forget about it.

Later at February 2017, i got an email, saying that i won a trip 4days 3 nights to Bali. I read the email and everything, and though that, ‘Woww. this scam looks legit’. HAHA. and then, i ignored it again.

Until i saw Maria Rahajeng’s tagged me 2 posts on Instagram and her Instastory, then i am reminded that i took part in her giveaway! hahahaa. OMG jenddd!!

I was and still so happy about it. Feels so lucky and blessed to have such a lovely trip. Thankfully, i can decide whenever i want to leave for the trip. So, i can use it last week, for my secondary school friend’s wedding in Bali.

Apart from staying in a luxury Sheraton Kuta Bali for 4days 3 nights, i got an exquisite pearl diamond necklace from ATLAS Pearl! *wohhooo*

Never thought that Indonesia has great seas and places like Bali, Labuan Bajo to Raja Ampat to farm oysters that can produce wonderful SouthSea pearls. We really should appreciate and take care of Indonesia even more!
