Singapore : EarlyBird Cafe

Two weeks ago, i made another impromptu trip to Singapore to settle some stuff. Apparently this running errands to Singapore thingy is getting more frequent. Which sometimes it made me tired, but super happy at the same time.

Well, i think i cant deny that i kinda miss living in this little red dot. =)

During this very short trip, me and my Singapore friends made time to go to this one little cafe to have a heart to heart session. A session that i missed the most. It appears that i am not that open to new people, even though i am quite an extrovert person. Haha

Anyway this cafe is called the ‘Early Bird’ cafe. A cafe that’s located one block away from Bugis MRT station and had a yellow popping colour that you will surely notice. This little nice cafe apparently is very comfortable for catching up, having a sip of afternoon coffee, even work remotely and gazing at the passersby one in a while. I personally love their simple decor, and not that noisy kinda area.

Other than the ambiance, i think they have fascinating menu for brunch / dinner, and heard that the taste is not bad either. But since we already had our lunch, and we just want to hang out a while. We only ordered drinks and their truffle fries. I personally think they have a nice Truffle fries (SGD10), even though i somehow feel the one at PS cafe is nicer, or maybe smell nicer (read : more generous in their truffles oil) hehe.

I ordered their mixed juice (SGD 7) since i wanted to drink healthier things now. The good thing is, all their juices are freshly made. My friend ordered their cold brewed sparkling tea (SGD 6.50) which come in a big bottle that taste weirdly nice for me. And my other friend ordered a glass of hot Mattcha Latte (SGD 5.50) that is really thick which i’m sure all green tea lovers will like it.

Sisterfields – Bali Hippest Cafe

I still vividly remember our Bali trip. Exactly today, last month, It was 21 of us, and we were struggling where to have our brunch. Some of us have some options in mind and threw it to the crowd, but our crowd also got confused because we had too many options. haha.  Indeed, Bali has a great range of cafe to choose from. Finally, we decided to have our brunch in Bali Hippest Cafe, in the heart of Seminyak, Sisterfields.

We went there about 10am, and the Q was brutally crazy. I really wondered what they serve inside, cause to be honest, i just heard of this cafe when my friend mentioned it (yes, guess im not that hip after all. haha). My friend said they served good quality coffee and the best Australian style brunch in town.

We waited for about 15-20 minutes, and they split us into 3 tables. I quite like the interior design and the layout of this cafe. They really managed to get as many tables as possible, without making it looked so packed.

We ordered a lot of food that time. But again, i just managed to take some pictures cause i was too excited to try the foods. haha.. The waiting time for all the food was about 15 minutes. Which i think it is already good enough since they have non-stop customer coming in and out.

One thing i noticed here is, they do have great waiter/waitress. They were quite prompt in serving and quite patient in explaining us some food on the menu that is new to us.

So, after we asked a lot of questions, we came down to this foods..
DIFX6308

** Sweet Corn Fritters**

Normal corn fritters, fascinating for foreigners. As for us, we just ordered this for fun and regret why we ordered this in a cafe. haha..

EFQE8991**Pan Fried Salt and Pepper Squid**

I personally really like this pan fried squid. The Squid is very tender, it doesnt have funny fishy smells, and the mayonaise with the palm sugar caramel really compliment the salty taste.

OSZT0170

**Pulled Pork Charcoal Roll** – The Black One on top

It’s a tender charcoal bread combined with a sweet homemade BBQ sauce on the pulled pork. I like the cabbage coleslaw inside, because it balance the sweetness.

**Smashed Avocado** – The green ones on the left

I like the fresh avocado topped with semi-dried cherry tomatoes and feta cheese. They put one slice of whole-grain bread which i think they need to put more. You have the option to add eggs.

**Mixed Seed and Muesli** – The bowl below

I really like this kind of seeds and yoghurt in a bowl. perfect for brunch! the apples are a bit too sour for me, but overall, i love this big bowl of happiness.

**Polenta Fries** – The long yellow ones on the right

Not a big fan of this kind of fries. Im more shoe-string fries type of girl. But the truffles sauce is good!

**Sisterfields Big Breakfast**

This menu has always been my choice to ‘eat safe’. haha.. Normal food, but everything in it is very good. I seldom finished my big breakfast meal. But this one is exceptional. Love it to the last bite. such a comfort food for me.

Overall Experience :

Ambiance : 3 / 5

Food : 4 / 5

Price : 3 / 5

What to Eat in Bali

Yellow peeps, I just went back from Bali ! *teehee..

went there to attend one of our best friend’s wedding.

and of course.. we went there to enjoy ourselves too!  haha..

I think Bali is always a fun place to go,

it is a destination that will never go wrong. *well.. unless there’s another attack from terrorist*

It’s an island of gods, island of beauty, island of paradise, island of peace, island of love, island of party, and an island of food..!

Yes.. our goal there is somehow to eat and try new cafes as much as we can. haha..

Our first night was a bit sucky, we just reached bali about 7pm, and

intended to eat Menega – Jimbaran, but all the ‘bumbu/saos’ spices/sauce were already finished.

the waiters said we were too late already..

we just knew that most Jimbaran are closing at 9.30..

always thought they will open until very late.. with all the ‘bumbu’ still in stock. =(

since Jimbaran is quite close with Rock Bar – Ayana,

so we proceed directly to the hotel..

as like the other bars, they only have small bites and drinks..

so, we consumed the calamari rings and potato sets with some juices. *didnt dare to drink alcohol since our stomach were still empty*

It is indeed a pretty place but rather expensive..

also, please go during the afternoon – sunset time, so you can feel the breeze and take pretty pictures.

that night was so stuffy and cant take any decent pics. =(.

so, we went for revenge on the next day..

our first stop was Nasi Pedes Ibu Andika – just opposite Joger (Jalan Raya Kuta)

well. who does not know this Indonesian mixed rice with their glorious ‘sambal’ chili.

people said Nasi Pedes Ibu Hanif – located beside BCA ATM in Pasar Kuta  is way better than Ibu Andika, but too bad it was closed when we wanted to go there at 11.30pm. maybe it’s weekend, so they sold out early.

Not like Ibu andika that somehow always open.. Ibu Hanif only open from 18.00-24.00.

after Nasi Pedes Breakfast, we went to Mulia Hotel – Nusa Dua to chill out, meet some friends who just nice were staying there and eat some cute cakess.. hehe

all are cakes ! can you imagine? hahaha.. so cute ya..

Mulia is so pretty ! i dont know who the architect is.. i found it so awesome.. hihi.

i think i can stay here forever. ahahhaa.. *lebay*

after we indulge our sweet tooth, we went to Potato Head – at Petitenget to grab our lunch before we go for SPA.

but too bad, the western area are full, and only left with the asian food.

so here we are, just enjoy our self in the bar and drink some mocktails. hehe.

after 1 hour of relaxation and rejuvenation that i will show you on the next post,

we headed to Ultimo – seminyak area to grab our lunch.

Ravioli Di Polo – Chicken ravioli with mushroom and butter cream

nice-pizza-that-i-forgot-the-name.

i think this place is best for their Italian food.

and they also have a very reasonable price.

interior wise is not too fancy, but decent enough to have a proper meal and to hang out.

after a very late lunch,

we went back to hotel to get ready for our best friend’s bridal shower at The Bistrot – seminyak

which means, we have early diner !

i personally cannot eat any more. haha..

but, since we already there, i just ‘comot-comot’ tried a few bites from my friend’s dishes and ordered a tea that i hopes can burn some of today’s fats. haha.

the-so-so-food.

the place is pretty vintage, and i love it..

We cannot make too much noises there, cause the manager said some of the ‘bule’ tourists complained to her. haha..

well.. what to do ? you know what to expect when you put 25 girls together in the same table..

*kita ga naik2 meja buat bridal shower udah bagus bngt waktu itu* haha..

the following day we ate Warung Made – Jalan Raya Kuta for brunch before we got ready for the wedding event.

chicken sate lilit

nasi campur made – if im not wrong. hehe

too many things inside until i dont know what i eat anymore. haha

aahh.. the fried rice is super nice.. very comforting in my mouth and stomach. hehe..

right after the wedding event, we went for supper to Mamas Germany restaurant – Jalan Legian Kuta.

they open 24 hrs if im not wrong. hehe.

Cheese Spatzle *super fattening*

Spatzle is traditional German pasta.

the next day we need to go back to Singapore already.. ahhh.. =((

so, we just eat Ayam Betutu Pak Man – Jalan kubu anyar tuban near by our hotel.

this restaurant got feature in Kompas few years back, they say the crispy duck is the bomb.

but too bad, i dont fancy duck at all.

the ayam betutu is not bad.

but i love the sate lilit – its a fish satay. so yummss.. hehehe.

yeah.. thats all for my gastronomic adventure for this 3 days.

please let me know if there’s anymore nice things to eat in Bali.

would love to try it when i have the time to go there again next time. =)
