UK : Stonehenge – The Mysterious Place (VLOG)

If i can time travel, i think i would want to go back to the time whereby Stonehenge was constructed. 3000 BC to 2000 BC. I am still amazed and felt so curious on how the people or giant back then set up all these crazily heavy stones. With each stones weighing about 25 tons with 3metres high and 2 meters wide.

I kept circling and looking at those stones, and got mind-blown by it. Somehow it just captivates me. Too bad, we cannot get near it. We can only admire it from a far. (except Michael Bay and Transformer autobots) Haha.

For some reason, they prohibit us to bring our own transport near the mega-stones. So, we need to park our cars in their allocated parking lot, and wait for their shuttle bus to bring us there, or if you like to walk and enjoy the green pasture, you can walk from the ticketing place as well. But it may take a while, since it’s pretty far from the pick-up point. One reason that i heard from the people there is, they want to minimize the pollution around the stones. So, even though the shuttle has dropped you at the drop-off point, you still have to walk for 5-10 more minutes to get near to the stones.

There are so many stories behind this UNESCO HERITAGE SITE. Like legend said that Cyclops giant brought over the stones and arranged it there, cause no one is big and strong enough to move this kind of stones. Another story is the high priest of Celts constructed these for sacrificial ceremonial. Then, some other said that it was built by someone who has a strong astronomical background, who built this to tell us the time and calendar.

No one really know who and how this megalithic pre-historic monuments was built and for what purpose. But since it’s already there, i think it’s our part to take care of this mysterious world assets. and Thank you England for conserving this so well up till today. Such an amazing place indeed. Feels like you can get a lot of inspirations if you linger there longer with some beer and picnic. Haha. Love the spacious green field, the noise-free and the clear sky and the cold breeze.

UK’s Fun Facts

What i love about travelling is i can learn new interesting thing about that other countries. Which sometimes made me feel relieved that I stay in Jakarta , Indonesia, and often times makes me want to migrate to that particular city or country. Haha

When i went to UK two months ago (mid June 2017), i found a few interesting things that i cant wait to share with you all!

1. The bare minimum age for purchasing alcohol is 25 ??

Found this red-note-sign at one of Liverpool’s supermarket. I am quite surprised to know that you have to be above 25 to purchase alcohol drink. I’m like, really?? I though UK is more lenient than Asia. Since most of the restaurants are selling alcohol as well. and they never asked us our ID when we purchase alcohol drink in UK. *Asia has 18 as their bare minimum age to drink and to purchase alcohol drink

According to some research that i did. UK has 18 as their bare minimum age for drinking as well. But if supermarkets violated this law (which means, selling alcohol drink to underage persons) they have to adopt the ‘challenge 25’ scheme. Which means, you have to be 25 to purchase in that supermarket. Interesting policy.

2. Shoe Cleaner outside UK’s houses

I saw this a lot in-front of UK’s houses, and was wondering what’s the use of that little tiny bar near the door entrance.

Until one day, i went to ask our local tour guide, and found out that little black bar in-front of most houses is for cleaning the backside of the sole of your shoes. Haha. I think this is very useful! Super creative feature!

 

3. British Summer Time is super long!

The summer time in Britain is super long! This picture was taken in Liverpool at 9.30-ish in the evening.

UK now is having their Daylight Saving from March 26 – October 29. I only know that the days are longer and the night-time are shorter. But i dont really get how this day-light saving works. So, if you normally go to work at 9am. Do you still go to work at 9am? or 8am? Hmmpp..

4. Talent matters most​

I was dry-ing my hair in the morning, and when i looked at the news, i found something rather different yet beautiful in my eyes.

Guess, the pictures tells everything, that physical disability doesnt really matter in UK. I guess Indonesia should apply this as well. where not only pretty slim perfect faces gets on-air, but someone who really is capable in doing so.

5. The pedestrian red light button

Well, actually this is pretty normal button. where you need to press on the button when you need to cross the road. But i realized that, they only have it on the side, and not having their own pillar. So, you need to wait the car to stop, or see the sign beside you if it’s already turn green.

I realized it, because normally i would look up to the pedestrian red light across the street, but found only those red lights for the cars.

6. The strong pop-corn game! 

The pop-corn game is stronggg in UK! haha.. This is in Liverpool’s movie theatre. would really love to buy one that time. but my throat was not feeling very-well. Since i dont want to be sick for the rest of the trip. So i must skip on this one. Booo!

So, you can get plain popcorn, or you add up 1 topping for GBP 1 , or 3 toppings for GBP 2. You can add MNMs, minstrels chocolate, mini oreos and mini pretzels.
