STAY HEALTHY EVERYONE! THIS TOO SHALL PASS! ❤

Basically people are not allowed to move freely for safety reason, because it might threaten other people’s lives.

Sekarang Negara China, Korea Selatan, Italia, Denmark, Spanyol, Irlandia dan bahkan Malaysia, sedang menerapkan sistem Lockdown, as an act to stop the spreading of COVID19. Nah, sekarang aku mau bahas soal Singapore, negara yang cukup dekat di hati aku. Kenapa?

Aku pun akan sebisa mungkin comply to their request. Jadi mulai deh tanya sana-sini gimana caranya buat masuk Singapore?

WhatsApp Image 2020-03-15 at 5.33.07 PM

Link nya CLIK DISINI YAHHH !

  • Lalu, pastikan kamu ada tempat dimana kamu bisa 14 day stay at home.

But yeah i always admire Singapore on how they protect their city-state. Beneran jor-jor-an gituh.

Hopefully this post will somehow help you, and please PRAY so this COVID19 will go away soon, and we can travel freely again.

STAY HEALTHY EVERYONE ! ❤

Jewel Changi Airport and Shake Shack Singapore Verdict

Singapore evolves too fast. I always feel there’s something new every month in this little red dot, from the insignificant to the one that really catch your attention. I remember how enthusiastic the locals and the tourists are when MBS and garden by the bay first opened back in 2010. Well, it is still Singapore highlights up till today. But, recently Singapore just made a new blow in retail complex attached with the world’s best airport, Changi Airport.

Guess most of you have seen how majestic its SGD 1,7 billion centrepiece is. When i saw it on my social media, i was pretty amazed with the big water fountain inside a shopping mall. Really something that i cannot wait to see.

And i finally made it to see the Rain Vortex – the worlds’ tallest indoor waterfall ever! and indeed it is quite stunning piece in there, i have to agree it feels like you’re entering Cloud Forest in Garden by the bay. But probably i will choose Jewel now. Since you can come for free and sit there to watch the waterfall all day. Haha.. Well, Since i love the sound of rain, and the sound of flowing water, if it’s not too crowded, guess i can sit there whole day, cause it just feels so soothing. and oh, they have light show on the waterfall as well on 7.30 pm, 8.30 pm, 9.30 pm, 10.30 pm and 12.30 pm. Which I didn’t catch cause we have to leave earlier that day.

And yeah, talking about Jewel, guess we can’t skip Shake Shack!

Shake shack is one of the reason why i visited Jewel too! I have been briefed that the q can be so bad, it can take you about 2 hrs only for q-ing (if you come during lunch / dinner time)

So, I was trying my luck that day, came at 3.30pm and hoping the q wouldn’t be that bad. And guess what, me and my friends only q-ed about 30 mins. Yeay! odd hours to the rescue! Hehe. I know 30 mins is still quite long for some people. But hey, i guess it’s normal for a famous restaurant. I mean, you would wait about the same period of time for Paradise Dynasty or Din Tai Fung.

FYI : 1 person can buy up to 5 burgers. So if you come in a group, i guess you can take turn to Q.. hehe

After 30 mins of Q, we finally get to order! And oh.. You can purchase the merchandise too if you love Shake Shack that much. I personally think the luggage tag is cute.. haha

So, I ordered :

– Shack Burger : SGD 9.20

– Cheese Fries : SGD 5.90

– Pandan Shake : SGD 7.80 *exclusively in Singapore outlet only.

After ordering, we will get a beeper and we need to find our seat first. Shake shack Singapore is actually quite big, they have second floor too for the dining area. But it feels a bit cramped, since too many people are dying to Shake Shack Singapore.

The food waiting time is about 15-20 minutes, which considered long for a fast-food restaurant (i think). And, this is my verdict :

Like like likee the Shake Burger (cheese burger). Love the meat that they claimed to be freshly ground 100% Angus beef, very juicy and tender for me, love the texture, and the cheese-melt is just nice to compliment the burger. and ohh the bun it self is very soft and buttery for me. Should get the double patty if you love cheese burger.

and if you like cheese melt, you gonna have Major crush for Shake Shack Cheese Fries. Omoooo, the cheese is just so addictive somehow. I think i can just finish this by myself without sharing.. haha.. A MUST ORDER! cannot be missed! >.<

as for the Pandan Shake with Gula Melaka Crumble, you can just SKIP IT.. a waste of calories and waste of money. i rather get another cheese fries or try out their shroom burger (some it it’s better than the cheese burger). It’s just too sweet, very chendol-ish, too thick to drink as well. i like sweet stuff, but i guess this is just not for me..

Overall, it was a good experience for me in Shake Shack Singapore. Kudos to all the staff who serves us well and fast despite the never ending Q. But, if you’re asking me would you rather Q for another 30 minutes for Shake Shack cheese burger OR have a MCSpicy Chicken Burger from McD without Q-ing ? Guess i’ll pick the later one. hehehe..

So, for those of you who have tried Shake Shack. Let me know what you think. And for those of you who can’t wait to try Shake Shack. Do come in odd hours guys.. hehe.. Meanwhile, have a great week everyone! ❤

Singapore : EarlyBird Cafe

Two weeks ago, i made another impromptu trip to Singapore to settle some stuff. Apparently this running errands to Singapore thingy is getting more frequent. Which sometimes it made me tired, but super happy at the same time.

Well, i think i cant deny that i kinda miss living in this little red dot. =)

During this very short trip, me and my Singapore friends made time to go to this one little cafe to have a heart to heart session. A session that i missed the most. It appears that i am not that open to new people, even though i am quite an extrovert person. Haha

Anyway this cafe is called the ‘Early Bird’ cafe. A cafe that’s located one block away from Bugis MRT station and had a yellow popping colour that you will surely notice. This little nice cafe apparently is very comfortable for catching up, having a sip of afternoon coffee, even work remotely and gazing at the passersby one in a while. I personally love their simple decor, and not that noisy kinda area.

Other than the ambiance, i think they have fascinating menu for brunch / dinner, and heard that the taste is not bad either. But since we already had our lunch, and we just want to hang out a while. We only ordered drinks and their truffle fries. I personally think they have a nice Truffle fries (SGD10), even though i somehow feel the one at PS cafe is nicer, or maybe smell nicer (read : more generous in their truffles oil) hehe.

I ordered their mixed juice (SGD 7) since i wanted to drink healthier things now. The good thing is, all their juices are freshly made. My friend ordered their cold brewed sparkling tea (SGD 6.50) which come in a big bottle that taste weirdly nice for me. And my other friend ordered a glass of hot Mattcha Latte (SGD 5.50) that is really thick which i’m sure all green tea lovers will like it.

Singapore : 2am Dessert Bar

This is a very late post! *just a heads up after some people asked me if im still staying in Singapore. haha.. Well, as much as i want to, now, I’m in Jakarta people.. =)

I was in Singapore last month for work. Since i love to try new things, I used my free time to catch up with few friends and try a few cafes that we never been to. And one of it is 2am Dessert Bar by Janice Wong. Well, actually a chef friend of mine is the one who asked us to go to this place. He needs to find some inspiration, he said.

and so, we went there in the afternoon, right after our Padang lunch. haha.. Yes, i lovee Singapore Padang food, somehow it taste nicer than Jakarta. i dont know why though.. haha.. maybe it was my comfort food back there.

When we first entered the cafe, i thought we were entering some night club. haha.. They are located at the second floor, and we have to take the stairs with almost no light at the staircase. No wonder they called it a dessert BAR though.

This is a perfect place for you who love to try those dessert that you can only see at ‘Master Chef’s show’ haha. some pretty dessert that is called ‘Molecular Gastronomy’.

So, we got this this cute astronomical chocolate for the welcome dessert. and look how they plate it! it feels like the whole galaxy is on the table.

We ordered 3 fancy desserts that day.

The first one is , Shades of Green. which consist of Pistachio Sponge. A tender and soft, but too little for us tho. Haha.. Accompanied with  Coconut Mouse, which is a little to sweet for me, and tasty Pandan Ice Cream! with Pistachio crumbs. We think this is the most edible and a nice dessert combination.

The second one is Tiramisu with Kahlua Jelly, Espresso Ice Cream. It came in one huge bowl, which make us the non-photographer confused on how to capture it. Duhh.. so, it was the less photogenic dessert of the day. I have to say that it was the most normal dessert. The safest choice of all.. hehe.. and speaking about Tiramisu, i guess those in Da Paolo is more worth it compared to this one.

And The third one, which is the prettiest of all, is Cassis Plum. It consist of Cassis Bombe, Edelflower Yoghurt Foam, Choya Granita, Yuzu Pearls, Yuzu Rubies. As for me, everything is too sour that i cant enjoy it all. =(..  but loving their Yuzu Pearls and rubies.

I have to say that Janice Wong bring all dessert to a whole new level! All dessert seems like an art, they accurately put everything in it’s place. Which makes you feel guilty if you ruin the art by eating it. haha..

This 2am dessert bar is a little pricy. but i guess it is worth the try, more over if you are a gastronomy enthusiast!

Singapore : Symmetry

Singapore is always a home to me. Even a 6 hours transit in this little red dot country, makes me happy. Haha. Last month, i came to Singapore for some church camps and work-meetings, and decided to spend some time to meet my Indonesian friend, whom i cant seem to have a time to meet in Jakarta itself. It’s still very funny though,  how we both stay in Jakarta, but only managed to have the short catch up in Singapore. Haha. *Guess the perks of staying in Singapore is, we can try to squeeze the time, since there’s no bad traffic.

Anyway, it has been a while since i had my last brunch. and so happy to have it again here in Singapore, a place whereby there’s always a new place to try out. and Finally, we decided to go to small little quirky nice cafe in Bugis area, somewhere in Jalan Kubor, near Haji Lane, called Symmetry.

I love the unfinished wall design, with pop-art decorations. It makes it very hippies and unique. Even though i dont know why they put Jack Skellington outside their cafe. haha.

The food here are a little bit pricy, but i enjoyed all of their dishes. The pasta is thick and chewy. Pork belly is juicy, and not too dry for the aglio olio. And love the sausage on the big breakfast menu, and the fresh juices on the monster mug. Overall is a nice experience over Symmetry.

It’s kinda packed too over the lunch time, so probably you can come for a brunch session for more serene feeling.

Singapore : Birds of a Feather

** Apologise for no pictures / less pictures as reference for this post.  As i mistakenly deleted some photos on my media blog and could not recover it back. =( **

Hello Singapore, it has been a while!

I was talking to one of my friend earlier this day, and just realized that we have known each other for 10 years already. Gosh, how time flies. I still vividly remember how i moved to Singapore early July, 10 years ago. Back then, i did not know much things. University life was pretty busy with projects as well. So all i can eat was foodcourt foods like chicken rice, mixed rice, mee pok, and fast foods like McD and KFC. HAHA.

Thankfully, God gave me great friends who i can rely on during my period in Singapore, which some of them are still good friends of mine up till today, who love to bring me to new places to try new things. ❤

and one of new places they brought me recently was BIRDS OF A FEATHER in Amoy Street. A nice cafe which has a very cozy feeling. The ray of natural sunlights and the wooden contemporary design made it more relaxing. The rather big size is a plus point as well, makes it easier for us who often come a big group.

When we talk about cafe, food is another important thing to consider other than the great ambiance. Birds Of A Feather is quite a rather unique eating experience, where they marriage chinese delicacy with italian and western dishes. and amazingly it taste great! even though some of them created a shock unfamiliar taste at first. Haha

A Bowl of Healthiness (SGD 20)

Love the aesthetic serving of this little cute bowl. Housemade Granola with assorted fruits and berries with greek yoghurt. Perfect way to start my meal. Haha. Even though the berries are all a little bit too sour, but i still enjoyed it though. Well, maybe because i always love a granola bowl. It is just a little too pricy for a small bowl. But, worth the try.

Oriental Bolognaise (SGD 20)

My Favorite amongst other dishes. al dente Angel hair, with pork ragout in sichuan style, with onsen tomago, wilted kale and sakura ebi. Was weird at first, but loving this all the way. it’s like chinese style aglio olio. The tingling taste is not bothering at all, and it smell good too. And ohh, the onsen egg really enhanced the flavour of the pasta.

Crispy Gyoza with Truffle Soy Vinaigrette (SGD 16)

A quite crispy outer, yet tender meat on the inside. My second favorite item after the angel hair. I can eat a lot of these too! haha. The dipping is soo good as well, never know that vinegar will goes well with truffle oil. It makes a rather sour taste and savoury at the same time. Perfect for sharing.

Avocado with Shredded Roasted Chicken with Sichuan Pepper Dressing (SGD 23)

This is a the most unique meal that we tasted on that day. Avocado toast with sichuan dressings. Haha.. It created another shock for the taste buds, but it was pretty okay after a few bites. Really a whole new experience of having an avocado toast.

Hong Shao Beef Ragout Orrechiate (SGD 26)

I think this is the only modern chinese dish that goes normal with sichuan style. Haha. A nice tender beef with parmesan foam, spinach, black fungus, pine nut and egg confit.

Overall it was a nice experience hanging out in this small rather big cafe. *What an oxymoron. Haha. Well, it looks small from the outside, since the front look is literally that small, and i did not realized that i already passed it by, till i need to call my friend and ask her to go out. Haha. But it turns out to be a great cozy place inside with awesome service as well.

*And oh, you need to request for tap water if you prefer not to have still / sparkling. Cause they will automatically serve you with the fancy mineral waters when you asked for only water. (well, at least that’s what happened to us)

SINGAPORE : PICNIC (VLOG)

* Apologise for no pictures / less pictures as reference for this post.  As i mistakenly deleted some photos on my media blog and could not recover it back. =( *

Back in Singapore days, we love to go out in big group. The more the merrier! More over when i go out with my Indonesian friends. We dont just go in big groups; We tend to stay quite a while after our meals and talk like there’s no tomorrow. haha..

Since we already know our so called ‘bad habit’. Normally we gonna squeeze our mind to just find a proper place to eat and hangout at the same time. And it is very tiring sometimes, since not so many places can fit 10-15 people in one go, at the same table. So, if your circle has the same habit like ours. Guess PICNIC can be one of your option for your next gathering.

PICNIC is like an international food-court with a beautiful decorated picnic-ky garden theme. Indeed, a very unique idea that makes many people want to give them a visit.

PICNIC itself has more than 10 seasonal and thematic stalls in foodtrucks to choose from. Ranging from Korean food, Japanese, Western, to Italian and French food. They have fancy drink stalls and dessert stalls too!

Food price ranging from SGD 15-20 per meal. A little bit pricy for a ‘food court style’ of food. But since this place is in Orchard, and they have comfortable ambiance as well, so i think this price is already an average.

If you have been to Marche, PICNIC also has quite the same system of payment. The difference is, you have to do it yourself in PICNIC.  So, they have a huge touch-screen menu in every stall, where you can view the food and order it at the same time. and after you ordered it, the ‘beeper machine’ will buzz and ask you to collect your meals. Payment also can be settled by ourselves as well if we are using NETS or Credit card at the exit.

The system is quite high-tech, but i personally think It can be quite a hassle for some people, like my parents for example. But so far, everything is good here! Nice food, great ambiance!

Peperoni Pizza from Flour and Water (Western stall).

Normal skinny pizza with tomato base, huge-not-so-dried peperoni, and melted cheese.

Foie Gras Ricebowl from Ezo Hokkaido East (Japanese stall)

This is everyone’s favourite. This consist of medium cooked succulent USA beef , fluffy rice, pickles, with awesome nice-smell super tasty foie gras sauce. All of this combination just melts in your mouth. One of the must try! and must enjoy this while it’s warm!

PorkBelly Sandwich and Truffle oil mashed potato from Le Coq Roti (French stall)

I dont really eat pork. But this one is considered good. The roasted pork belly is so juicy and tender. and since the filling is so overflowing, you have to eat this sandwich with fork and knife, and not with your both hands like the normal sandwich.

The Truffle oil mashed potato is heavenly as well! I can just eat this mashed potato alone without anything else. The mashed potato is just so soft, creamy and flavourfull. More over it’s truffle oil mashed potatoo.. The greatest combination ever!

Kimchi Noodle from Daebak (Korean Stall)

I’m a noodle person, and i am always up for any kinds of noodle. As for this, i think the noodle is thicker than normal Shin Ramyun (Korean instant noodle) and quite chewy. As for the soup, it’s not kimchi-ish much, which not that sour but quite spicy. The melted cheese add more texture for the noodle and richness of the soup. This bowl actually goes with clamps, but since i dont really eat clamps, i asked the cook to change it to extra dumplings. The dumplings itself is just a normal minced meat dumplings, but quite generous in its filling.

What’s New in Singapore?

I love fast food so much. Especially the one which have been fried with dozens of secret herbs and spices. Believe it or not, when i was a kid, i was super thin and i all i wanted to eat is only omelette, noodles and fried chicken. Well, I think that pretty much sum up how i can grow ‘big’ after that. Haha.

I always thought that no one can compete to the goodness of  the ‘Finger Lickin Good’. But i was wrong, apparently i just found my new favorite fried chicken in town! And it’s not a fast food chain restaurant.

Located at the heart of Orchard Road, this new stalls brings fresh option for the foodies. Especially those of you who is fried chicken lover. And Not only they serve uber-nice fried chicken, but they do have a lot of other good foods too!

DSC03069

I personally love their signatures, the BOO BURGER. Love the boneless fried chicken, the flavour is just right in all aspect, not to salty and it doesnt make you thirsty or make your throat itchy right after eating. The cheese sauce make it taste better, and it just blend well with the waffle and egg.

DSC03073

Chicks and Mash – If you are not sure on what to order, this would be a perfect choice. Fried chicken and mash potatoes with mushroom sauce will never go wrong. Ah ohh, if you are Indonesian, dont forget to bring ‘Saus Sambal’, i think you’ll enjoy it more with the sambal. Hahaha.. personal preference though.

DSC03066

Fried Rice with Mushroom – Believe it or not, this fried rice taste like risotto to me. The rice texture is so soft and buttery, also you can smell the strong mushroom aroma when they served it. I quite like mushroom a little too much, so probably this one will be a good choice, if you need carbo loading. Haha. and for the vegetarian, you probably will like this too.

DSC03082

Dirty Fries – This is everyone’s favorite. Fries, Spam, ‘Bolognese’-sy topping with Cheese Sause.. Oh Good. If your not on Diet, this is just a perfect combo for your fried chicken, and a good side-dish to share with everyone!

A Little Escape from Bustling Singapore

Singapore always changes every now and then. Somehow there’s always something new every 3-4 months. Either new restaurant, new mall or new hangout place. I guess only one thing that stays the same, the hustle and bustle of Singapore. Everyday, Everyone looks busy in this ‘concrete jungle’ of Asia. Nonetheless, Singapore also has few places for you who wants to get out from your hectic days and enjoy your day in a serene place.

MacRitchie Reservoir

I guess many of us have heard it and went to this oldest Singapore reservoir before. But as for myself, last month was my first time to actually go there to admire the nature park, walk through the treetops, and sweat myself with 7km of hiking. *Well, i went there once about 8 years ago, and did nothing much. So i re-count this as my very first time. haha*

This 12 hectare reservoir is very popular amongst Singaporean, be it for school / organisational events or  for nature lovers who just love to take a stroll or challenge their fitness level. They have few hiking trails to choose from and canoe-ing through the reservoir too. Would be a great place for team bonding and family time i suppose.

For me, Even though it’s a popular place for jogging / hiking, this forrest can be quite eerie too if you walk alone. I dont know if i watched too many horror movies or what, images that something would just appear anytime from the forrest, gave me quite a chill! haha.

Well, other than my ‘horror imagination’, MacRitchie reservoir is a great place to visit if you want a little escape from your city life, breath some freshhh air! and shed some fats! haha..

Tips : Keep your belongings safe, put your small articles like glasses and hat when you encounter monkeys. They almost stole my bag when i cross the treetop walk. A scary and funny experience though. haha.

National Gallery Singapore – The ‘Louvre of Asia’

I still remember vividly, about 6-7 years ago, one of my senior in my Singapore church took her pre-wedding pictures in front of this Supreme Court Building. Back then, pre-wedding photos just started to be popular amongst the newly-wed couples. I remember that me and one of my friend were so ‘Kaypoh’ that time, tailed them from the St. Andrew Cathedral to this classic pretty building. Well, for an 18 years old (then) me, pre-wedding shoots was somehow ‘dreamy and extravagant’, it made the younger me hope that i’ll have that kind of photoshoot when i turn 23, and get married by 24. But yeah, too bad.. i have passed that age monthss ago.. and here i am, Independent (read:single) and still dreaming to have a beautiful photoshoot soon with my future husband to be. hahaha.

Okay. enough about me. haha.. Let’s talk more about this newly opened museum in the heart of Singapore. After 10 years of renovating and SGD374 millions of expenditure, ‘The Louvre of Asia’ is finally unfolded on 24th November 2015, and it is Uh-mah-zing! Indeed, The prettiest museum in SE Asia.

I came to this ‘few-months-old-museum’ twice, the first one was planned and the second one was not. It is free to come here and take pretty pictures in the hallway and the classic-elegant bridge, but you need to pay SGD 20 dollars/ person for foreigners and free admission for PR and Singaporean to see all of the exhibitions.

On my first visit, I did not enter at any of their exhibition, but on my second impromptu visit, i accidentally entered one of their exhibition named ‘Siapa Nama Kamu’ – A Painting and many other artwork gallery that represents the development of modern arts in Singapore. I was so lucky, the staff was quite lenient that time, so they let me to quickly finish the entire gallery.#rejekianaksoleh

This marriage of two-buildings, City Hall and Supreme Courts is amazingly beautiful. I can stay there one whole day just to enjoy its classic yet modern architecture, and stare at paintings that i may not even understand. haha.

National Gallery Singapore is surely a must visit when you are in Singapore. Why?

  • They simply have a nice architecture to admire
  • Then you can take loads of instagramable pictures
  • Enjoy the 8,000 art pieces from old and new Singapore, and SE Asian arts
  • Nice cafe with a great Singapore landscape and MBS view
  • Cute museum shops – I can assure you, it’s not a boring ones

Okay, i guess enough of talking. Just see the pretty pictures below that were captured by Me and my lovely friend, Amanda Lorena
